Does the company have a state or county license?  The Florida Dept. of Business Regulation requires a license for the repair/servicing/construction of any swimming pool, hot tub or spa, whether for public or private use.  Licensure can be verified by going to www.MyFloridaLicense.com.  BE AWARE: some unethical companies/individuals may try to offer you a copy of their Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate,   NOTE this is not a license.
   
2. Is the company insured?  Can they present a current insurance certificate providing BOTH General Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance?
   
3. Can they provide references?  Ask for testimonials and references.
   
4. How long has the company been in business?
   
5. Can you provide a written estimate?
   
6. Can you tell me how long this project or repair will take?
   
7. Is there any guarantee or warranty on your swimming pool service or repair?
