New Drain Covers Now Available to Help You Meet the December 19th Deadline

Commercial pool and spa owners have less than a month to locate and install a new drain cover. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act’s new safety standards take effect December 19th.  This isn’t something you want to ignore as there are hefty fines or even imprisonment for noncompliance.

We’ve been waiting on the state of Florida to approve the distribution of a drain cover that meets federal standards and we just received it! Basically the new federal act (VGB) requires that all public pools and spas install a compliant [ANSI/ASME 112.19.8-2007] drain cover.

Most pool owners don’t realize how easy it is to comply with the new safety act. The products we’re distributing easily and safely retrofit to most existing frames and meet or exceed safety standards.

Here are the products we’re distributing that meet VGB:

  • 12" x 12" White Wave Grate
Flow rate: 400 GPM at 1.5 FPS
    Part # RWAV12101
Call or e-mail now to place your order.

    9" x 9" White Wave Grate

Florida making it difficult to comply with new Federal Pool and Spa Safety Act

The clock is ticking. When the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act’s new safety standards take effect December 19th public pool and spa owners will face potentially hefty fines or even imprisonment for noncompliance. In fact, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission the maximum penalty for one or more related violations is $1.825 million!

The problem in Florida is new drain covers must also meet state requirements. Even though the deadline for federal compliance is quickly approaching, none of the covers have been approved by the Florida Department of Health. A hearing to review this matter is scheduled for December 2, leaving commercial pool owners with very little time to comply with the new regulations before the federal deadline.

Many people are unaware of the injuries and fatalities caused by suction entrapment. Our company is dedicated to pool safety. We already have the services and products available to meet federal regulations. As soon as we receive confirmation from the state of Florida, we’ll be prepared to meet those standards as well.

What should commercial owners and operators of pools and spas do in the meantime? We recommend the following steps:

  • Fill out a services request now so we can be ready to move forward quickly on getting your pool compliant with federal and state law.
